New Hampshire/Vermont 13th Annual Basic Encampment Friday July 22 - Sunday July 31, 2011 Location: Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont The New Hampshire Wing cadet encampment is designed to provide a training environment that instills the best traditions and values of Civil Air Patrol in enlisted ranks of the cadet corps. Governed by CAP regulation 52-16, the goal of each encampment is to teach and demonstrate to cadets fundamentals of the three Civil Air Patrol core missions: aerospace education, cadet programs, and emergency services; provide mentoring and practical instruction on the four CAP core values: integrity, excellence, respect, and service; enhance esprit de corps at all levels; provide a culture of surmountable challenges; and to help equip participants at all levels with the fortitude they desire to persevere through CAP and daily challenges. In 2011, we celebrate our fifth consecutive encampment on the campus of Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. The University is steeped in military tradition, founded as the first private military college in the United States in 1819. We are fortunate to have the use of the magnificent facilities available on campus including full-service dining facility, confidence course, rappelling tower, and pool. The campus is nestled in the hills of central Vermont giving the encampment experience a unique, natural setting. Encampment is not only designed to challenge the enlisted participants; but, it is also designed to challenge the cadets who vie for staff positions. It is a great opportunity for both upcoming and seasoned cadet leaders to put into practice their leadership training. Each staff member is charged with a scope of responsibility that, when executed properly, defines the success of the overall encampment.
