BASIC CADET APPLICATION

The New Hampshire Wing Summer Encampment 2010 is scheduled for Friday 23 JULY 2010 to Sunday 1 August 2010 at the University of Norwich, Northfield, Vermont.

Encampment can be the most significant, memorable, and worthwhile training experience in a Civil Air Patrol cadet’s career. In addition to the training cadets receive at encampment, they get to experience many exciting activities not normally offered at the squadron level. Encampments are designed to give cadets a chance to learn and grow in a challenging environment. As a parent, when your cadet comes home from encampment, you will find they are a little more mature and understand more about responsibility and team work. They will have a greater self-confidence and self-discipline.

1.       Qualifications for Attendance: (Cadets applying for Summer Encampment must)

a.       Have a current CAP membership card.

b.       Have completed at least the Curry Achievement (Cadet Airman) prior to the beginning of encampment. This is a requirement of CAP Regulation 52-16 and cannot be waived.

2.       Selection Priorities: (There are a limited number of slots for participants and these slots will fill quickly. When the available encampment facilities are no longer adequate to allow all eligible applicants to attend, participation will be selected on the following priority basis)

a.       First Priority – Any Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont Wing Phase I or Phase II cadet who has not previously attended an encampment. (selected in order of postmark of the application)

b.       Second Priority – Any out-of-wing Phase I or Phase II cadet who has not previously attended an encampment. (selected in order of postmark of the application)

c.        Third Priority – Any Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont Wing or out-of-wing cadets who has attended only one encampment.

d.       Fourth Priority – Any other cadet.

3.       Application Procedures are as follows:

b.       A fee of $275.00  is due upon application to cover meals & billeting at Norwich University for the encampment. Make Checks payable to “NH CAP Encampment”.

c.        Mail the completed application packet to the listed address.

Incomplete applications for encampment may be rejected and you may not be allowed to re-apply, so please ensure that your application is complete.

4.       Applications must be postmarked by FRIDAY JULY 2, 2010. Late applications will not be accepted. Upon receipt of applications the Commandant of Cadets will review the applications and post a list to all squadrons with those cadets that have been accepted to attend encampment. There is the possibility that a cadet may be wait-listed to attend the Encampment.  If this does occur the applicant will be given the choice to be wait-listed or not attend the Encampment.  Wait- listed cadets will be ranked in the order their applications were received.  Those cadets not accepted to attend encampment will be refunded their attendance fee.

6.       Cadets will be participating in daily physical training (PT). A cadet with a physical or medical condition that excludes him/her from participating in PT will need to have a signed physician’s statement indicating what restrictions apply.
